Do you ever wonder how movie studios select which weekend to debut a movie? Typically, they are looking for low competition. That’s why you rarely see big movies releasing on the same weekend.
Something else movie studios want is releasing over holiday weekends so people have time off from work to come in and buy ticket.
The day you release your erotica eBook on Amazon is a big deal. It’s like releasing a blockbuster movie!
So today I wanted to talk about something a lot of authors don’t really consider when they publish their books. I want to talk about what is the best day to publish erotica ebooks on Amazon.
When to publish your erotica eBooks on Amazon
Most movie studios like to launch their movies closer to the weekend (Thursday/Friday). This is because most people don’t work the weekend and can come in and buy tickets.
In fact, Avengers Infinity War (which could be the biggest movie of all time) was released on 4/27/18…a Friday!
The logic is similar to selling erotica. Most people don’t work on the weekends and will have time to read your new books.
I actually went back and crunched the numbers over the past year on my eBook sales.
Here’s what I discovered:
I averaged 10% higher sales on the weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)!
That’s why it’s very important to make sure your eBooks get published in time for the weekends. In general, I like to publish once on the weekend and occasionally early in the middle of the week.
When to submit your books to Amazon KDP
Now, if you’re trying to target your book for release on the weekend, there are several things you need to consider.
First, don’t forget that Amazon still needs to review your book. Amazon KDP editors review every single book that gets submitted to the platform.
95% of books will get approved within 48 hours. I have found that my books get approved within 24 hours…sometimes as fast as 12 hours.
That’s why I like to submit my book to Amazon KDP on Thursday mornings or afternoons. This ensures Amazon has plenty of time to review it before it ultimately gets published on Friday afternoon/night.
One other thing you need to consider when launching your erotica shorty story eBook is the impact of holidays.
For most family holidays (Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc.) most people won’t be reading smut. They’ll be too busy with their families or traveling across the country.
As a result, I would avoid the weekend publishing rule if it falls on a big holiday. Instead, publish a few days before the weekend as that’s when people are most willing to devour erotica!
The proper way to launch your erotica eBooks
One last thing I wanted to discuss is how to properly release your erotica eBooks. As I mentioned before, treat each launch like a movie.
This means you are the head honcho at the movie studio. You have to create BUZZ about the newest and hottest story coming from your library!
This means letting newsletter subscribers know what is coming. Perhaps you can give them a little teaser or a short excerpt from the book.
And when the launch finally comes out, be sure to let them know with another email. Don’t be afraid to upsell your book and tell them how great it is.
Newsletter subscribers are always your best customers so let them know when new books come out.
